Welcome

What to expect?

Whether it’s your first time in a church or you’re just visiting we want to say welcome! We aim to provide an experience for everyone to encounter God no matter where they are in life. When you come to a weekend service expect to be inspired through worship, encouraged by the message, welcomed in our community and reminded that God is for you!

Our Beliefs

We believe in the same Biblical truths that have been held sacred since the time of Christ. We affirm truths that are unchangeable, yet fresh and applicable for each new generation. We cling to the core but refuse to be sidetracked by debatable, secondary issues that are more likely to cause strife than to promote spiritual growth. Here are the basics we hold dear.
There is one God, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and everything in it, eternally existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and each possesses all of the attributes of God.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is one with God the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is our Savior. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on a cross for all sin, and rose from the grave after three days to demonstrate His defeat of sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will return again to earth to reign as our powerful King.
The Holy Spirit is one with God the Father and Jesus Christ. Those who accept Christ as their Savior will receive the Holy Spirit to live inside them. The Holy Spirit serves as our comforter, guide and advocate. The Holy Spirit is given to Christians to guide us in living, help us understand the Bible and prayerfully intercede for us.
Our foundation is based firmly upon the Bible as our final authority on Christian beliefs and as a guide to living. The Bible is divinely inspired by God, without error, given to man so that we may know and understand the truth of God and His love.
All people are made in the image of God and are created to live the adventure of following Jesus Christ. Although we have tremendous potential for good, we also have the freedom to do evil. Our disobedience toward God is called “sin” and separates all humanity from God.
We can never earn forgiveness for our sins, but we can receive forgiveness as a free gift from God provided by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It is available by faith to everyone who accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. We then express that faith by being baptized in water and repenting of sin.
People were created to exist forever. Every person will either exist eternally in union with God in heaven through following Jesus Christ or eternally separated from God in hell due to their refusal to follow Him.

Take Your Next Steps

The Bible tells us everything we need to know to grow spiritually. The Holy Spirit divinely inspired the prophets who wrote it so that we could know Him and learn what pleases Him. As we obey His Word, we grow strong and begin to see positive changes in our lives.
Prayer is one of the greatest privileges we have as a child of God. Just think, the God of all creation wants to hear from you! You can call on the Lord any time, day or night. It doesn’t matter to God if your prayers are eloquent or mundane — it matters only that you pray with a pure and sincere heart.

Jesus came to earth not merely to reconcile us with God but also with each other. Becoming part of His Church, His community, plays a vital role in your spiritual growth. For example:

– Relationships with other Christians will keep you spiritually active and give you much-needed encouragement and support.

– In a church you’ll learn in a consistent, progressing manner that won’t happen in years of self-study. You won’t just learn theological truth; you’ll also learn how to apply it practically to your own life.

– You’ll enjoy an environment where you can experience sincere unity with others in prayer and worship.

– Church gives you the training and opportunity to use your God-given gifts and abilities. God wants to use you!

We invite you to attend our Discover Grace Classes and become part of Grace. These four 90-minute classes will teach you a great deal about God’s grace and Grace Church. Our next classes begin at 10:30 am on Jan 7 in Room B207. You don’t need to register in advance, just come.

A sure sign of a changed heart is the desire to live for God, to honor Him with our obedience. You will begin to align your thoughts and actions to God’s Word in order to become a reflection of Jesus.
Good news is hard to keep to yourself! God wants you to share your newfound faith with others. And you don’t have to wait until you’re an expert! You can simply share your own story of what Jesus has done for you. (The Discover Grace Classes will show just how easy that can be.)
Jesus warned that some people would receive God’s love with joy but then fall away from their faith — some because they didn’t take time to develop roots, some because they love pleasure more, some because they get sidetracked by stress and worry.
Being a Christian is not always easy. At times you’ll feel pressured to back down or give in. The devil will tempt you to disobey God — He even tempted Jesus. So we experience tests and trials, but God promises to be with us and give us the strength we need to get through hard times.
We’ve put together a number of classes, small groups and resources to help you grow in faith and relationship with God. You’ll find details about many of these at our Info Tables in the foyers and Atrium. (See the back of this bulletin for a sample.) You’ll also find details online: www.gracestl.org.
God bless you as you continue to walk in His love, Spirit and ways!
