Jumpstart
A Ministry to Prepare Children for the Sacrament of Baptism
Saturday at 6 pm • Sunday at 11 am
First Floor Bldg. C. (Just off the Atrium)

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and
only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
(John 3:16)
When believing in Jesus Christ and receive his gift
of new life, it is a “New Birth” that should be celebrated and
documented through Baptism. That is what Jump Start is all about.
Jump Start is designed with four
easy steps
- A 45 minute presentation for both parent and child
- Do at home process
- Interview process
- Celebration
Step I: The parent and child
will attend the 45 minute introduction which will convey the message of
salvation in a simple child targeted way. This will help “Jump Start” the parent
and child into dialogue regarding the child’s decision to become a Christ
follower. During these 45 minutes we will separate the kids and parents for
about 10-15 minutes. At that time the kids will have a questionnaire to fill
out. This questionnaire will then be given to the parents. While the kids are
doing their questionnaire the parents will be given instruction regarding
Step II.
Step II: The parent(s) and child
will be encouraged to read over the handout materials together, once they are at
home. Our goal is to help the parent and child, experience this wonderful and
exciting decision together. We want the parent to feel comfortable in knowing
their child understands the salvation message and what baptism is all about.
With that in mind, they too will know when their child is ready for this big
decision. It is important to us that the parent(s) know their child’s heart in
this matter. It also allows the parent to feel comfortable with the topic,
because they will have been given the tools they need to take their child
through this process.
Step III: Once the parent
and child have gone through part I & II and the child has accepted Jesus as
Lord and Savior and understands what baptism is all about, the parent will then
contact the Jump Start Coordinator for an interview process.
Step IV: Celebration Time!
This will be a one/two hour celebration time (depending on how many kids there
are). This part will be done on the scheduled baptism times Children’s Ministry
has reserved. For the Celebration night, the kids being baptized will be able to
invite family and friends.
That night will
include:
- Worship
- Prayer/ Prayer Team
- Baptism
- Cake and drinks
Baptisms: Parents can
baptize their children if desired. Other persons available to do the baptisms
would be: Rachel, Anna, Andy Taylor, or a special requested person by the parent
or child.
We believe this in an incredible time for the families. We want
the kids to never forget what God has done for them and in them
